NatyaSutraOnline presents a Mohiniyattam workshop with Smt. Smitha Rajan, celebrating a pivotal piece from the Ramayana.
This abhinaya draws from the Rama Natakam of iconic Tamil poet Sri Arunachala Kavi, forever enshrined as one of the central pillars of Carnatic music. We witness Hanuman's passionate portrayal of Sita's fidelity as she courageously defies Ravana's advances. Lord Rama is the recipient of this tale as he prepares to rescue his partner from the clutches of evil. Hanuman locates Sita at Asokavanam and rushes to Lord Sri Rama to relay the happy news of his wife. A captive of Ravana, Hanuman describes the ordeal Sita faces in Lanka. He utters the iconic phrase, “Kandan Kandan, Sitaye, Hey Raghava”, which translates to 'Oh Lord Raghava, I found Sitama! '.
The composition focuses on showcasing the plethora of emotions that each character experiences amidst a challenging course of events. The Guru guides all enthusiasts with technical demonstrations for each facet of the presentation.
