Sakhi

The sakhi or friend is the mediator who plays a multitude of roles in the Gita Govinda. She conveys Radha’s emotions to Lord Krishna, counsels Radha when the latter is on the verge of fury, and generally acts as a soothing balm throughout the series. She is both an advocate of the importance of choosing the central path and her actions are those that one expects from a true friend.
